Qualified Person
Centred Counsellor

online, telephone, face to face and walk and talk

Welcome to Your Therapy

My name is Leila, and I offer a counselling service that aims to put you, the client at the heart of what I do.

As a qualified Person Centred Counsellor, based in Ashford, Kent, I work with individual adults, to explore and make sense of their struggles, with a warm, empathic and non judgemental approach.

If you are struggling with distressing emotions or circumstances, I can help by providing a private and safe space, where we can explore your difficulties in a way that can enable positive change.

I want to make it clear that I am very much on this journey with you, and I strive to really understand what you are experiencing, so that we can make sense of it together.

As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) – the largest professional counselling body in the UK, I am bound by their Ethical Framework to ensure fitness to practise in an ethical and safe way.

I am also fully insured and enhanced DBS checked, along with being a member of the ICO.

Counselling Sessions

Online and Telephone Sessions

Online and telephone counselling has never been so popular. Here are some of the advantages so you can decide if it’s the right approach for you:

*Convenience – There is no need for you to travel to our sessions. You can join me from wherever is best for you

*Flexibility – If your work pattern is unpredictable or you travel a lot then you can still commit to regular counselling sessions

*Anonymity – When you are talking about things that are particularly uncomfortable or difficult, you may feel more relaxed meeting me online rather than face-to-face

I use secure end-to-end encrypted video conferencing via Zoom and can work flexibly around your personal commitments.

You will need to make sure you can be online at the agreed time and in a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted or overheard.

Face to Face

I offer face to face counselling sessions in a relaxed and warm environment from my therapy room located in Ashford. The premises is conveniently located with free onsite parking, and easily accessible from the M20. Contact me for more details.

Walk and Talk Sessions

This is where we take the counselling outdoors, out in the open and in the fresh air!

If you feel that being with a counsellor in person is right for you, but want to veer away from the traditional seated face to face setting, then this may be the approach for you. Walk and talk therapy can really help release tensions by experiencing the nature of the outdoors – it helps to loosen anxiety and promotes natural conversation.

What to expect

My role in our sessions is not to give advice or tell you what to do. I will listen to your concerns with empathy and without judgement, and help you think about how you are feeling. We will explore the roots of your difficulties, and this may involve looking at family relationships, significant life events and your patterns of behaviour or ways of thinking.

Our sessions will help you to see things more clearly and often from a different perspective, which can help you to understand yourself better, and enable you to make positive changes in your life.

Initial Assessment

Prior to an agreement of counselling sessions taking place, I offer a free 30 minute initial assessment over the phone. Here we can explore what brings to you seek counselling and what is troubling you. I can also answer any questions you may have, and together we will decide the next step. There is no obligation to proceed following the assessment, and I will be able to suggest other sources of support if appropriate.

If you decide you wish to proceed, we will arrange a regular weekly appointment, which will last for 50 minutes.

Counselling is a talking therapy which enables you, the client to talk through issues with a caring but uninvolved professional.

It can be really helpful to talk to a trained and experienced counsellor, as opposed to family and friends, in a private and confidential setting where you can speak freely without fear of being judged or upsetting the other person.

We are all wired towards growth, learning and healing, but sometimes life events and challenges, or issues from the past can stop this natural process. Some benefits of counselling include improved self awareness and how you relate to others, greater self acceptance, increased resilience, raised energy levels and motivation, and of course one to one support at a difficult time in your life.

Some people come to see a counsellor with a very specific concern that can be explored in a few brief sessions, whereas others come with more long term and deep rooted issues.

I work on an open ended basis where we will have regular reviews to ensure the work is going in the right direction for you, and together we will jointly agree when you feel ready to bring the sessions to an end.

Over the last couple of years I have helped many clients with issues of anxiety, particularly around the pandemic, and how this has affected them, also the knock on effects of this such as relationship issues including domestic abuse, affecting both men and women and challenges within the family unit and home.

On a broader scale, the types of issues I can help with include anxiety, stress, depression, low self esteem, anger issues, feeling stuck, bereavement, relationship difficulties, loneliness, emotional abuse, trauma, unwanted patterns of behaviour, finding life difficult in general and struggling to cope, and other life changes such as retirement or redundancy.
